Follow these instructions and tips and your tattoo will heal beautifully and last a lifetime.

1. Keep bandage or plastic wrap on for at least 3 hours, but preferably overnight. If you remove it before bed, be sure to rewrap your tattoo if you like your sheets, as it will ooze that first night.

2. Wash immediately after removing any bandage or plastic wrap. With your hand and mild soap, get rid of all that shiny plasma. Pat dry with a clean towel. After washing your tattoo, apply a very thin layer hand cream. Do not use antibacterial ointments such as Neosporin or bacitracin.

3. Repeat this process 2 or 3 times a day for the first 3 or 4 days after getting your tattoo, or just until it begins to peel. After that you can begin to use a regular moisturizing lotion a couple of times a day.

  • Avoid soaking your tattoo in any kind of tub or pool, or the ocean, for at least a week. Stay out of the sun for a week.
  • Do not scratch or pick at your tattoo, no matter how tempting it may be!
  • Once everything has flaked off, the skin will be shiny. You can keep using lotion until it’s back to normal, which should take about a week.
  • Remember: SPF whenever your tattoo is in the sun!
